Money by Design was first created for Educational Institutions. It is structured as a three-credit course giving attention to meeting those requirements.

At the college level, MBD is a thirteen-week course, requiring 2hrs of class time that can be supplemented with one hour from the multi-media discs. The instructor's manual contains class directives, student projects, and all assignments. These assignments require an additional 2-4 hours of homework per week.

Colleges have the freedom to supplement portions of the course with additional materials. The college provides the midterm and final exam to tailor the program to their institutional standards.
